I am an EE, in Northern California, who used to work for cutting edge startups in data/telecommunications. My older daughter is in the top 5 percent of the IB high school program she is attending — the IB program is more challenging than the AP program.
Under no circumstances would I counsel her to pursue an engineering degree, as the outsourcing and the H-1B visas are putting us out of business here in the United States.
It is very sad that our "leaders" decided to decimate the middle class, and jeopardize our technical leadership, with incalculable national security and economical consequences in the future, for a few dollars now.
