How many of you think you have ever written a correct WDM driver? "Correct" here meaning that PnP, power, and I/O were handled safely and correctly, including multi-processor support. If you answered in the affirmative, you are very likely wrong.

I have yet to see a WDM driver sample anywhere that correctly synchronizes PnP, power, and I/O for all potential applications--not in the Windows Driver Development Kit (DDK), not in any books, not in any commercial toolkits, not anywhere. Certainly, I have not ever seen a PnP and power management code base that could be copied and used for just any type of WDM device. Selective suspend alone, throws out every implementation I know of.
